Academy — groups & teams

Welcome to the Academy, your complete guide to groups and teams on SportsTrackLive.

A group lets a set of athletes — a club, a family, a race team, or everyone present at an event — track together and see each other easily. Whether you organise a club outing, a paragliding meet-up or a school sports day, a group keeps your crew in one place: a shared live map, a shared activity feed, and a single invite link or QR code that lets people join in seconds.

This section explains how groups & teams work end to end, and — importantly — how the same group behaves across the web platform and the iOS / Android apps, because each side does slightly different things.

What you can do with a group

  • Create a group with a name and a sport category, and share it with an invite link or QR code. → Creating a group
  • Join a group by link, by QR code, or from a category list — even without an account yet (guest mode on mobile). → Joining a group
  • Manage members as the owner: see who joined, locate them on the map, and tidy up their names and phone numbers. → Managing members
  • Use group features: filter the live map to your crew, see each other's activities, attach a team challenge, and unlock the premium experience for everyone. → Group features

Web vs. mobile at a glance

The same group is reachable from the website and from the apps, but the tools differ:

Owner-only tools. Creating, editing, deleting a group and managing its members are reserved for the group owner (the person who created it). Other members see those options hidden or greyed out.

Groups are premium

The Group Manager on the web and creating / deleting a group in the apps require a Premium account. Joining a group and recording with your crew does not — anyone, including a guest, can join. A nice side effect: while a premium group is selected, every member gets the premium experience for the duration. See Group features.

Groups vs. scenes vs. events

  • A group is an ongoing set of people who track together.
  • A scene is a curated multi-track 3D replay.
  • An event is an organised competition with turnpoints and leaderboards.

These often work together: a group of athletes at an event appears as a scene in the 3D player.
