3D player — overview
The 3D player is what makes SportsTrackLive special. It renders your activities on a real-world 3D globe — actual terrain, satellite imagery, altitude that you can feel — and lets you play them back, follow any athlete, and analyse the flight.
The same player powers three things:
- The web viewer at sportstracklive.com.
- The 3D replay embedded in the iOS and Android apps.
- Live events such as the Red Bull X-Alps, with dozens of athletes at once.
Feature tour
| Area | What you get |
|---|---|
| Globe, terrain & layers | 3D terrain, satellite/road/topo layers, 2D⇄3D toggle, place labels. |
| Timeline & playback | Play/pause, variable speed, scrubbing, live mode and "resume to live". |
| Camera modes | Follow, first-person, free camera, compass and gyroscope control. |
| Athletes & statistics | Athlete list, per-athlete live stats, show/hide tracks, off-screen indicator. |
| Weather & air layers | Thermal maps, Meteosat satellite, wind vectors, netto-vario. |
| Charts & analysis | Altitude and speed graphs, polar diagram, units toggle. |
| Recording a video | Capture an MP4 of the replay to download and share. |
| Augmented reality | On mobile, point your phone at the relief to see peak names, weather beacons and other pilots overlaid in real time. |
Who it's for
While anyone can use it, the 3D player is especially powerful for free flight — paragliding, hang gliding, sailplanes — where altitude, terrain clearance, thermals and wind are central. It also has dedicated modes for sailing and for contests/races.
Live vs. replay
- In replay, you control the timeline freely.
- In live mode, the player follows each athlete's current position in real time, and a single click resumes to live if you've scrubbed back into the past.
