GPS trackers
SportsTrackLive supports dedicated GPS tracker hardware — standalone devices that report their position directly to the platform, with no phone involved. This is ideal for vehicles, assets, animals, or anyone who wants a rugged always-on tracker.
What they do
A GPS tracker connects to SportsTrackLive and continuously reports:
- Location data — position, speed and heading.
- Heartbeats — so the platform knows the device is alive.
- Responses to commands sent from the platform.
Configured trackers can support features such as geofencing and remote configuration.
Setup overview
- The device is registered and authenticated with SportsTrackLive.
- Once online, it streams location data that appears like any live track — visible on the social map and in the 3D player.
- You manage the device's configuration from your account.
Use cases
- Tracking a vehicle, boat or piece of equipment.
- Long-duration tracking where phone battery isn't practical.
- Scientific tracking — for example the bird-tracking mode, with home-range and migration analysis.
INFO
Tracker hardware uses the industry-standard JT808 protocol. If you're interested in using STL trackers for a fleet or research project, contact SportsTrackLive.
