The 2D & 3D viewer
Every activity and scene can be watched in the browser, in either a 2D map view or the immersive 3D player.
2D vs. 3D
- 2D — a flat map with place labels, ideal for a quick overview of where an activity went.
- 3D — a true globe with real terrain and satellite imagery, where altitude really comes to life. This is the 3D player.
You can switch between modes from the viewer toolbar.
What you can do in the viewer
- Play back the activity along a timeline, scrubbing to any moment.
- See live stats (speed, altitude, distance) update as the track plays.
- Switch camera modes, including a first-person view on desktop.
- For multi-track scenes and events, show/hide individual athletes and follow any of them.
The full feature set — terrain layers, weather overlays, charts, video recording — is documented in the 3D player section, since the same player powers the web viewer, the apps and live events.
Performance tips
The 3D player is GPU-accelerated and works best in Chrome. For recording an MP4 video of a replay, Chrome is required. See Recording a video.
