Live tracking & comments
The mobile app is where you go live. This page covers the mobile specifics — for the full picture see Live tracking.
Going live from your phone
Enable live broadcast in the cockpit. Your position streams in real time so followers and nearby athletes can watch you move, and your start/stop can be pushed to emergency contacts over WhatsApp/SMS.
You can set live broadcasting to be on by default for new recordings, and set a radius filter for which nearby live users you want to see.
The live map
The app's social/live map shows currently active athletes. Filter by sport and by distance, tap a marker to see someone's live position, or search for a specific user. You can restrict the map to your group members.
Live comments
When you're live, viewers can send you real-time messages. You'll see them appear on the cockpit and hear an optional sound alert. It's a great way to stay motivated or get information from your retrieve crew.
Viewers
See how many people are watching and who they are. Tap a viewer to open their profile and activities.
Keeping the broadcast alive
Live tracking relies on continuous GPS and a persistent background service:
- Allow the app to track in the background.
- Exempt it from battery optimisation (Android) so the system doesn't pause it.
- A non-dismissible notification confirms tracking is active.
See Offline recording & sync for how recording behaves when connectivity drops. If your phone and carrier support it, satellite live tracking can keep you live on the map even with no cellular coverage at all.
