Offline recording & sync

SportsTrackLive is built for the outdoors, where signal is often absent. The mobile app records fully offline and syncs automatically when you're back online.

Recording offline

Everything you need to record works without a connection:

  • GPS, barometric altitude and connected sensors are captured locally.
  • Your live metrics, triggers and vario all keep working.
  • The activity is stored safely on the device.

Automatic sync

When connectivity returns, the app uploads your activity in the background. GPS points are sent in batches to manage bandwidth, and late-arriving or duplicate points are reconciled automatically.

You'll see a sync status on each activity — pending, syncing, or fully synced. You can also force a sync manually if you want to push an activity immediately.

Background tracking

For live tracking and long recordings, the app uses a persistent foreground service:

  • A non-dismissible notification shows that tracking is active.
  • A wake lock prevents the device from sleeping mid-recording.
  • On Android, exempt the app from battery optimisation so the system doesn't pause it.

WARNING

If the operating system aggressively kills background apps, your recording or live broadcast can be interrupted. Granting "always" location permission and disabling battery optimisation for SportsTrackLive avoids this.
